Sepia Scenes #1: New and Improvised!
You know Mary The Teach? Yeah, that Mary The Teach... of Ruby Tuesday Fame. Well seems that she's also got a soft corner for sepia toned photos, so she's started a whole new meme -- on a whole new blog -- called Sepia Scenes. And as a public service, she's even included a few tips for converting color images to sepia using some of the more popular image editing programs.Yeah, I can hear you... "Just what you needed -- another photo meme". But I can't help myself... I may need a program. I know I need more disk space! So anyway, here's my debut -- and the title "Improvised" applies in more than one way here. First of all, this shot is one I already had uploaded -- it had to be because I'm not home where my archives are! Second, and more telling, this was originally shot on a black and white 35mm negative (Tri-X 400 pushed one stop over. I know you were just dying to know that.) when I scanned the negative, though, I forgot to reset the scanner for B&W, so it thought it was scanning a color negative. And it tried its best to put some color in this photo!Anyway, I liked the result so well, I decided to do all of my B&W negatives this way... and if I wanted true B&W later, I could always just desaturate them, right?
