Sky Watch Friday #9: No Fly Zone

"No Fly Zone"
Raleigh, NC - October 2008 (Click to embiggen)

Sky Watch Friday

The curve in these contrails shows the edge of a no-fly zone imposed over my city during a rally held by President Elect Obama just the week before the election.
Until someone pointed this out to me, I hadn't given it much thought, but it seems perfectly logical that in the post-9/11 world this would be a standard practice. Or perhaps it was standard even before then. If anyone knows, please... discuss!

I had no idea they did this, but yes, it does make sense. And it's very pretty.

I had not thought much about this amount of forward planning.
The sky is a bigger and less crowded place to use.
I really enjoy the warmth that your blue sky imparts too.
Have a good week.

I'm guessing not a no-fly zone (as in Camp David and others) but more a Temporary Flight Restriction at such a large venue.
That's just a guess.

And, like minds - I posted contrails too except my are straight.

Well Mojo, we have 'no fly zones' here, over NASA and over Ellington AFB (except for air shows). I haven't seen the contrails but haven't looked either.
There are contrails all the time over us as we are withing thirty miles of Houston Intercontinental Bush Airport.
Happy Skywatching!

Love the blue of the sky here. And the roundness of the contrails.

True blue. A refreshing change from our gry skies.

What a huge blue "sheet of paper" to give free rein to one's imagination.
It could be used for limiting the Sky, but also to feel free to watch and play without restrictions, nor moderation.

I'm not sure, but I would think there have always been no fly zones. I know the White House has had one forever. Military bases are the same.
