Watery Wednesday #4: Beaufort Sunset
If you're visiting the Crystal Coast, Beaufort is one stop you do not want to miss. Steeped in history, Beaufort is the third oldest town in the state (with Bath and Edenton ranked ahead of it) and is home to fine restaurants, charming independently owned inns and shops the state Maritime Museum and more historic sites than you can point a camera at. During the peak season, tours of the historic district run daily and harbor cruises run several times a day. You can catch a ferry to one of the barrier islands that protect the harbor or simply relax on the boardwalk and gawk at the obscenely expensive boats moored there. And unless the clouds roll in, one thing you can count on every day is the sunset over the harbor and Carrot Island (background). Inspiring, isn't it?The town operates on "beach time" which is slower than standard time, and if I've encountered a friendlier place, I don't remember it.

The golden glow of the sun is special. Too bad the ferry ride is expensive, I would love to cruise there. Enjoy the rest of the day!-Vienna Daily
Pretty and peaceful. Sounds like a calming sort of place. Love the glow of your photo.
That is a great pic, what I would do to own one of those babies.
Cheers!

Nice pic and I love the color in that sunset.
:-)
My wife and I have spent quite a bit of time in Beaufort. One of our favorite visits is the Old Burial Ground because of the sense of history there. We have also eaten in several of the restaurants and they are all great.
The photo of the sunset is beautiful and captures the feeling of that village very nicely.
The colour of the sky is lovely reflected in the water.
That's a very beautiful photo! Gorgeous sunset.
Based on your description (and photo), I think I would like to visit Beaufort. I particularly like the idea of the Maritime Museum. I always love those. Nice post for Watery Wednesday.
