Monochrome Monday #16: 1950 Chevy Truck
Somewhere on the parkway on the trip back to Raleigh, we stopped for a stretch and discovered this sturdy 1950 Chevy Pickup that is apparently still in use for deliveries. They don't build 'em like this anymore.

Chevy certainly must still build em strong - I understand a truckbed has found a use up-market.
That's a classic shot of a classic vehicle. I learned to drive stick on a friend's 1940s chevy pickup in the 1970s. After that I drove automatic until the 1980s when I started driving stick again on a honda accord. I had to learn to drive stick as if for the first time because the old truck was so different from the new cars.
This picture looks great in B & W - I do not think a colour print would have shown off the strong lines of the vehicle as well.
American Iron Rocks!
Well, my X had a truck like that one. When he wasn't out partying, he spent all of his time working on his prized Chevy truck. Thank you ever so much for the reminder! ;) However, I must confess it is a great subject for monochrome. I also like the way you framed the shot.
I agree this is cool, and I don't think color would do it justice.
This reminded me of a documentary I watched yesterday on classic American cars in Cuba. The sheer volume of pre-1960 automobiles still running on that island is absolutely amazing.
Nice photo, Mojo.
i love cars. this is a rad shot.
Old vehicles are particularly nice in B&W. I like they way you've taken a partial shot of the truck. Nice.
You have done the Chevy proud! Wonderful shot.
Great shot, great subject. Nifty.
Damn, that's good.
What you are seeing here is awed silence: [ ].
Good take!
a true classic!
A good vintage captured in a good mono!

Doesn't seem that they build them like this anymore.
wow, nice truck. really!
An iconic shot if ever there was one. They really don't build them like that anymore.
Amazing what you can find and still being used.
Nice shot.
Very cool photo!
