Thematic Photographic 35: "Down" v.1.0 - Up In A Down Way
This week's Thematic Photographic theme is "Down". As in "a collection of vectors aligned with the pull of gravity, or in the absence of gravity, some arbitrary and agreed upon vector".Okay, right. Or in this case, as in the "down" position of canine obedience training. This dog is competing in a "Schutzhund" (protection dog) trial, and part of the trial is obedience. But beyond normal obedience training, the dog must also respond to commands on a short obstacle course including this one-meter hurdle. But what I noticed in the photo was that even thought the dog is three feet in the air, he's in a letter perfect down position. And I decided to save this for a theme that involved "up", "down" or preferably both. Enter Carmi with "Down". So even if it's stretching things a little, I just had to share.

I'm so glad that you DO stretch the envelope. It's why your pictures stick in my mind pretty much forever while everything else segues into oblivion by dinnertime.
You've somehow managed to capture this amazing dog's absolute control over body, space and motion. Your sense of timing is pitch perfect.
Interestingly, he hardly looks like he's pushing his own envelope. Remarkable. And a great way to kick off the theme!
Strength and beauty...he's gorgeous.....and I do believe this fits the theme. He's gotta come down sometime.
Great photo.
wow, beautiful animal, beautiful. i wish my pups would adopt some their attributes... but alas, playful pets is all they are.
hiya, absolutely both ways. sometimes i come across a picture i HAVE to write to, like with yours, other times the words pop out and i look for a photo to enhance the mood....
oh yeah, if you're into it, there's something for you to pick up over here...

Love it! This made me giggle. As I was reading your entry I was thinking "ok where is the down ? am I missing it? I love how this pup is captured in the air. It seems like Samantha from Bewitched stopped time so we could really observe the moment.
Great shot, as always... i like that your "down" photo would have been perfect for "up" as well.
Pretty mifyt there mister.
What a perfect picture for this theme!
Fantastic that you managed to freeze him at precisely that moment.
What a well trained dog and the shot is g-r-e-a-t!
