Thematic Photographic 38: "Winter" v.2.0 - Waiting for the Groom
Usually if we want snow we have to make our own. Even in the mountains the natural snow isn't enough to build enough of a base for the ski areas to operate without help. This is a typical scene between shifts at Appalachian Ski Mountain when they close the slope for an hour or so to re-groom the surface. On sunny days, it's not unusual for the surface to thaw enough to turn the ski slope into a skating rink for the night skiing session.

When I saw your title, I thought it would be a wedding photo....LOL
So, do you ski? I can't seem to stay up on the skis. :)
You've got every kind of climate going down there! Great shot.
Oh yeah! I know about those slipery slopes. We like to go to a close buy ski place in our area that is very simular. It's inexpensive but sometimes it's tough going.
Nice shot!
Never skied but it's a joy to look at the snow, specially when the Sun lights hit!
Have a great weekend! :)
oh that ski lift brings memories of austria, thank you!
I admire their pluck in perpetuating a sport in a climate that normally wouldn't be associated with it. This scene brings me back to the mountains north of Montreal, where I learned to ski oh so long ago.
I definitely need to get back to the hills. That feeling of freedom, as exemplified by the wonderful depth of this shot, is calling me.
