Kay's Seven Deadly Challenges #5: "Envy"
Envy, contrary to some opinions, is not the same thing as jealousy. I could get into the differences, but Kay probably did it way better than I could in her introduction of the Sin of the Week. But I really don't have much to offer in the way of Envy, because envy requires coveting and there's not really all that much I covet. Sure, there are things I'd love to have (Dear Santa, I have been a very good boy this year and could you please bring me an EF 400mm f/2.8L super telephoto lens?) but I honestly can't think of to awufl much that I want so badly that it would make me dysfunctional and obsessive. But I guess if there's anything I could say I envy it would be the ability to create something like this painting, a print of which I saw at India Fest 2009. The print I could have afforded easily enough. And if I'd had a place to hang it, I would have bought it. (And it's still not outside the realm of possibility that I'll go back and get one.) But the skill and talent required to create it isn't something one can purchase.Oh... let's be honest here, it's actually the model I covet. ;) Does that make it envy or lust? Guess I'm screwed either way, huh?

That is beautiful work and she is a beautiful woman...so, I would be thinking either way your screwed. But my guess is, you're leaning a little towards the Lust side of the equation here. ;)
Hey, I am envying her, never mind you! ;D
Indian women are curvy and we don't mind being curvy at all. Stick thin is never good.
OK. So you've set the envy machine into motion. What a body. There must be some magic to loving what you've got (she seems good with it).
Envy is lust is sin is pleasure. I get so confused. Must be why I dropped out of Sunday School.
Ah... The Lady or the Tiger ... looks as if SHE is being lusty ... as for you .. well .. which would you have picked?
Beautiful print ... I'm thinking you shoulda picked it up. =)
... as far as YOUR sin, yep, definitely leaning towards Lust. ;)
I enjoyed this. Must be a blog thing... we all covet new cameras. I too wish I had artistic talent and could create beautiful works of art.
I'm not much of a envious person, either. But I can so relate to wanting to possess artistic talent! Obviously, I have turned that into simply appreciating it and giving the talented their day in the sun. And occasionally, taking a decent photograph with a point-and-shoot! :-)
I've been really into learning more about Dante's Divine Comedy, something I slept through in school somewhere along the way. My post is on Envy from that perspective and contains art and some links.
Regarding the model. I like her from an aesthetic point of view: I've always thought that women with curvy meat on their bones are more attractive.
Nice post, Mr. Mojo!
Now THAT is gorgeous. She looks enticing, alluring, exotic....a beautiful work. You should get it.
Definitely.
It's you.
