Neat Way To Spend a Saturday
Or a Sunday for that matter. This weekend the J.S. Dorton Arena at the NC State Fairgrounds is host to India Fest 2009, organized by Nuv Yug, one of the Triangle's Indian cultural organizations.
I was there this afternoon for a few hours (regrettably few actually, I missed the headliner, Prashant Tamang the winner of Indian Idol 3). But in the time I was there I did get some pretty cool photos of the local performers. Most of these were young people, and all of them quite good! If you're in the Raleigh area, or will be on Sunday 29 March, consider coming out for the second day. Details are on the Nuv Yug website, but the short version is that Sunday's party runs from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, admission is $3 (children under 3 free) for the day. and hand stamps allow for pass-outs if you want to take a break to tour the Flea Market just next door.

India really has a very rich culture. I wonder if the festival also featured India's food and delicacies, trying their famous "Biryani Rice" would definitely complete the culture immersion experience, it's definitely a must-try.
Great photos!
Photos of all things Indian are always so wonderfully colorful, and these are no exception. What a fun way to spend an afternoon.
Looks like we both had color- and music-filled weekends this weekend :).
Love the slide show. Colorful and rich! Makes me want to touch the fabrics to feel the textures. The dancing feet shots are great. :)
Beautiful shots in the slide show!
Gives a good feel of India.
Cool slide show!
Ooooo, wish I could attend the festival .. I want some of that awesome jewelry! =)
Beautiful colours!! I have no problems understanding why you love all things Indian! Let's hope you "drop by" Zinder on your way, some day in the future. Chances are high I'll still be around!
