That's My World Tuesday #20: State Capitol

"Capitol Building - South Side"
Raleigh, NC - December 2008 (Click to embiggen)

Be a virtual tour guide on That's My World Tuesday

Since Raleigh is, after all, the state capital you would expect the State Capitol building to be here. And so it is, a fine example of Greek Revival architecture (or so I'm told, I'm not an expert on architecture) situated almost at the downtown core's dead center. Capitol Square is two city blocks on a side with the Capitol building sharing grounds with an assortment of monuments. Though the Governor's offices are still housed in the building, the state legislature moved out when the Legislative Building two blocks to the north opened its doors in 1963. The central atrium of the building has also played host twice to the Stanley Cup - once in 2002 when the Hurricanes made it to the final round and once in 2006 when the 'Canes won the title.Violence Unsilenced

Greek revival style architecture sound impressive. This by night looks like the roads around London City Centre and some of the very palatial buiding that the homeless should be using. Strange how this image ignited that spark in me.

The Christmas lights make the seat of government look like a playground. With light comes truth....
