Watery Wednesday #21: One Of These Things Is Not Like The Others

Watery Wednesday
In case you missed it: Check out my entry in Nicole B's Scavenger Hunt!

I've never had any luck at keeping fish alive in an aquarium. Which is a real pity, because I love to watch them. I'm not sure what species these are, but I'm reasonably sure their green coloring is from the lighting and not their natural color. The larger, tan colored guy in the foreground was actually illuminated by my flash which is what makes me think the green guys aren't really green.Violence Unsilenced

The fish are lit by such a pretty shade of green,

you never know they may be that colour as there are some neat coloured tropical fish out there, regardless that's a neat photo.

I wonder if they're actually silver? In any event, I love the luminescent green that the camera created. What a magnificent green it is!

I really like your fish pictures. When I visit an aquarium, I stay all day whenever possible.

ctually, those greenish silvery fish look to me like they are members of the Jacks family (Carangidae). If I had to guess, I'd say that they are juvenile Bluefin Trevally (Caranx melampygus). If you search on that name, I bet you'll find them. The little ones do sometimes have a greenish tinge.

The one going against the grain looks like some kind of a snapper.

Nice shot no matter the color.

The way the fish look.
Like you I am not able to maintain an aquarium, but I love to look at the fish in them :)
Happy WW :)!

PS.: I borrowed your WW button, I hope you don't mind.
I couldn't manage to get the button right :(

In their element.

Great shot! The fins are shaped differently, so it's not the same species, and I've seen some fairly spectacular colors on fish.

...but the green looks so great!

I've had the same experiences as you with my former aquarium (now housing cactuses on dry gravel). Allthough those that lived did so till ripem old age (abt 5-8 yrs tops). There's a thing. Are the green guys green and the flash just sort of ripped the colour of the one in front or is it the other way around? One of life's unsolved mysteries.
