Sepia Scenes #31: One Man's Trap is Another Man's Pot
For those of you unfamiliar with salt water fishing, this is what's called a "crab pot". Why "pot" and not "trap" (which is what it actually is) you ask? I've often asked the same question. And I've never gotten an answer. Maybe somebody from "down the shore" can clear that up in the comments.

I like the shadows and light in this one. Nice for sepia.
Mmmmm... crab. Crabcakes. Love crabcakes. Must have crabcakes. Very hard to find in Israel. Damn. Need crabcakes. Need them.
Sorry, lost my train of thought for a second there.
Great shot, it works really well in sepia. And going off on another totally unrelated tangent, I didn't know you guys said "down the shore" too. I thought it was a New York/New Jersey thing. We always said "goin' down the shore" when we headed off to the Jersey shore.
Great pic.
Whether you call it a pot or a trap it all ends in the same result, dinner.
Happy WW!
Nice! And yes I am familiar with it as my place...Cebu is an island. :)
mmmm, now whatever i'm having for dinner will just not live up to the taste of the crab curry i now have on my mind.....
I like the east coast colloquialism. I can't think of a single one for west coast. This is a sign for me that I need to get back to the coast and stay. Nice picture. Nicer meal.
Guessing here .. a trap would have a top so the trapee cant escapeee .. maybe its a pot because its got no top and well...
Well, I don't have an answer for you but I sure love the shot.
The crab pot is a much larger and heavier piece of equipment than a trap. Hmm. Is this a pot or a trap?
Your photo brought back good memories!
we just call this crab net :)
I really like this shot - perfect sepia tones! :)
Mine is up too!

This has the view similar to a lobster pot in New England. These wily crustaceans have to be tricked to be captured...so we can enjoy the variety of chowders, bisques, stews, casseroles, rolls and so on.
Great patterns on this photo, both the net and the shadows.
Pot/trap doesn't matter! As long as that thing gives me crabs I'll be one happy woman :P
Now I'm craving for crab dinner!!
Whatever it is called, I see that someone else has beat me to the contents! I like how this photo turned out in sepia!!
whatever you call it, the picture is great. We had some wonderful crabcakes and crab while staying in Maryland. Hope you can stop by to see my sepia scene Thanks!
