Thematic Photographic 59: "Elemental" v.6.0 - "Air"
Photographing "air" is at once impossible to do, and impossible to not do. At least on land. I suppose if you're underwater or in outer space you can avoid it, but I don't spend a lot of time in either of those environments with a camera. But you can't "see" air, you can only see the effects of it. Ask these guys in this squadron of gulls though and they can tell you all about it. They've mastered it. Riding thermals, or almost hovering in an onshore breeze, all without twitching a wing feather. This flight was probably headed for shelter though. That evil gray sky you see was about to unleash nigh-unto-cataclysmic thunderstorm. The kind that isn't at all friendly to air traffic -- human or avian.

Perfect timing to get a shot like this.
I agree with Lisa, it look like they are on a mission..
Heading for shelter like you said.
Mycket, mycket vackert!!
Me, too, does look as if they're on a mission -- to get the hell out of Dodge judging from that sky!
Another great one!
