Thematic Photographic 63: "Big" v.5.0 - Big Ticket

"Big Money - 1976 Rolls Silver Shadow"
Raleigh, NC - May 2009

Thematic Photographic hosted by Carmi - Button Image by Smarmoofus Hosted by Written Inc.

Her wingspan isn't quite as big as Helga's, but it's a lot more recognizable, even to those not enamored of things automotive. This lady has been gracing the noses of Rolls Royces of all shapes and sizes for as long as anyone can remember. You want to talk about big, these monuments to excess have been accessible only to those who are "rolling in it" (pun intended) since their beginning.

The sight of wonderful automobiles makes me turgid and tumescent.
A Maserati, Bentley or Rolls, makes my naughty parts twitch within.
Oh green eyed monster,I am a slave to desire of speed and luxury.
Feed me visions of want that I can only grasp at from afar.

I don't know, Mama Zen, I never thought I'd have a hood ornament at all and I do, on my pretty blue cat.

Mojo - this is spectacular! Did you tough the car?

The practical side of me says this kills the aerodynamics (I'll duck now.) The artistic side of me is saddened that we'll likely never again see the kind of craftsmanship that defined vehicles like these.

Your photo captures it exquisitely. Like liquid mercury, frozen in three-dimensional space.
