have you ever...

Have you ever done something with as pure an intent as the human heart is capable of only to figure out later that what you intended as helpful was in fact hurtful? Does that happen to other people, or is it just me? Because I seem to have developed a real talent for it.

And I hate that. A lot.

Because the person who's hurt is still hurt, no matter the intent.

I have and I know exactly how you feel. Not that that will make you feel any better, but you aren't alone.

I thought I cornered the market on that, I am sorry to see/hear you are sharing it ... do not beat yourself up.....whoever was hurt, it wasn't intentional

Yes. In short!
And actions were misinterpreted, only to be blocked and not allowed to explain!

oh yes I know he only way I get over that or try not to do it is stopping and thinking or praying before replying--It does not often happen:(

It happens to everyone. It happens in politics between nations. It seems to happen quite frequently with my mother-in-law. Sometimes I can only say, "I'm sorry." And the next time, I will ask before I do.

Way too frequently! I know no 'cure' for this only listening more intently...

Thank you-

I think it's just human nature and hopefully we learn by our mistakes.
I'm still learning...!

It happens to everyone. Everyone human at least.

Be gentle with yourself, and remind yourself that you did the best you could.

Perhaps the very clarity of your intent is the instrument of a life lesson for the one who was hurt; we cannot always know Why.

We do not throw away a hammer because it accidentally strikes a thumb that is holding the nail.

As Robin said, be good to yourself. And yes, I have wounded those I love most. Just by living, sometimes. But not living would hurt them even worse, so...

Breathe. It's your only obligation.
