Monochrome Monday #24: Beginning to Fall
Finally the Linville River hits the first cataracts that make up the Upper Linville Falls. The drops are short, but steep and quite fast here. The more precipitous lower falls are not far away either.

Into the rough water now... great contrast in this, white water, black rock.
Beautiful shot. I wish I was there right now.
It's interesting how something gives off a completely different feel in black and white. Very nice!
This made me think of a 30 year old guy who threw himself into the river above Niagara Falls on Wednesday, went over the falls and survived. He was very angry at the rescuers.
Very dramatic, and so completely different from that lazy section upstream that we saw earlier.
The water sure is rushing to get over the rocks. Looks powerful.
Interesting serie. More and more intense ! B&W reveals all the strenght of the water.
Great falls are for next week, I guess.
This is a lovely developing series,
Great shots....
I don't think I'll paddle my boat down there! Nice one.
It's a lot faster than my lazy stream. Real sense of power veiwing this. Galvanates the senses.
The B/W really captures the movement!
beautiful. the shot gives it a kinda cave effect...
Water that is not ice. Beautiful and almost audible in Connecticut.
From calm to chaotic in the blink of an eye... wonderful capture!
nice job.. building the tension what will the end be .. the falls! Excellent
Wonderful capture! Brings back memories of white water rafting decades ago in Oregon on the Descutes ;--)
Hugs and blessings,
Oh, the follow-up to the other great picture! This is a very thrilling shot. I love it! The water water is really, really white when contrasted with the rock.
Mmmm, that's really pretty!
The falls look wicked!!
Everytime I see that picture of Suzanne Horn, it makes me sad. I've noticed it on a few other sites but never asked why or what prompted her to do that?
Anyway, have manic cheers-
