55 Flash Fiction Friday #36: Chapter 28 - Pahraa

Some stories are the same in any language.
The army lieutenant seemed kind enough. It was the sepoy driving the lorry that pricked her wariness. From the darkness of the lorry's cab she imagined him leering at her, imagined the puerile thoughts in his mind, imagined what he might do if left with her unattended. "No" she reminded herself, "what he would attempt."

Notes:
pahraa: on guard

Excellent chapter! She knows who is who and what they're thinking...seems like she would like to trust somebody but she will pick her mark. Puerile is a great word choice in this instance,'dirty thoughts' just wouldn't work as well.

My 55 is not up yet...I'm working on it. :)

I hope she's not jumped out of the frying pan into the fire! At least she's wary and on her guard.

Interesting.
I took a cab once in Mexico. The cab driver drove out in the middle of nowhere and stopped. I got out and he chased me around the cab. I was really scared. I talked him into driving me to my hotel and when we got there I ran off.

I had sushi for dinner tonight and it was, as always, beyond wonderful. I think I like just about everything you had on your plate. I'm particularly fond of salmon and tuna. The smoked eel was an acquired taste for me but I now love it.

Sushi is a lot less gluttoness than a lot of other foods I can think of, actually.

of course she would be on guard after what happened. She would never ALLOW that anymore!

Great Job James. Sorry I could not come here earlier!
