55 Flash Fiction Friday #37: Chapter 29 - Chetaavnee

In case you missed it: Check out my entry in Nicole B's Scavenger Hunt!

Some stories are the same in any language.
"A woman alone on this road is not safe", the officer explained, "there are bands of Muslims stealing Hindu women right before their families' eyes."

"And you're to tell me that Hindu men aren't doing that and worse?" she said archly.

"At least let me see you to..." he paused, "where are you going anyway?"

Notes:
chetaavnee: warning

Indeed...if I remember, it went both ways...

& it is the same even now when we have communal riots...

& its a shame!!

I hope her hard earned wisdom keeps her safe...her society seems a lot more dangerous than ours, but somehow I doubt it. Dangers are the same the world over, more 'in your face' in other countries perhaps. I think we put a gloss on everything in the west and we don't always know we're in danger until it is upon us.
Eagerly awaiting next Friday. :)
